Freight Division

The Freight Division is responsible for organizing and streamlining the Freight Sector within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.  As such, the division has the overall policy responsibility for freight transport in general and insures regulation of:

  • Truck drivers hours
  • Truck driver licensing
  • Dangerous goods movement on the road network of Abu Dhabi. 

The division is also responsible for overhauling regulations governing freight distribution in the air, land, and maritime sectors to ensure an efficient door-to-door response to customers’ needs.

In delivering the Abu Dhabi Multimodal Freight Master Plan (ADFTMP), the vision is to create a positive route map to the implementation of freight strategies, policies and plans that facilitate the growth of Abu Dhabi as a world center of business excellence and economic growth.

Our mission

To regulate, plan and develop an efficient and well integrated freight sector in Abu Dhabi that serves the public interest by enhancing mobility of goods and delivering safe, secure, and environmentally responsible freight services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Our Objectives

  • Identifying a framework for freight,  detailing what facilities or infrastructure is required to satisfy Abu Dhabi’s growing economy in the most efficient way.
  • Promote the necessary behaviors for efficient freight management through a framework of regulation, plans, fiscal measures and operator obligations.
  • Define the most appropriate delivery mechanisms for achieving the investment or behavioral change that is required.
