The Department of Transport (DoT) has commissioned the preparation of a 20-year transport master plan for Al Gharbia (Western) Region "Al Gharbia Surface Transport Master Plan" (AGSTMP). This will comprise a detailed strategy and a phased implementation plan to provide the surface transport infrastructure needed to support Al Gharbia 2030 Urban Structure Framework Plan as well as the Master Plans for the seven major cities of Liwa, Madinat Zayed, Ruwais, Mirfa, Ghayathi, Sila'a and Delma. In addition, proposed new developments in Ruwais, Barakah and other places will be taken into account, which appeared on-line after the release of Plan Al Gharbia 2030.
